Wearing sneakers to the office is becoming the new hot thing, yay! Not that we don’t love heels and
sexy glam, but the casual chicness of athleisure and its sheer practicality is really drawing a lot of
people in and this trend doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere. From celebrities like Beyoncé who’ve
got their own brands, to Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner who love combining their style with their gym
rat personas, athleisure is something both famous people and busy moms can appreciate. If you’re
looking for ways to look totally stylish at the gym or simply to find better ways to rock casual looks,
take a look at some essential items that need to be in your closet.
Athleisure is a youthful trend started by millennials, but it actually has a lot of flexibility in terms of
direction. The best fashion advice for athleisure is this: mix and match elements. You’re not limited
exclusively to sporty clothing, so a pair of sleek Y-3s paired with skinny jeans and baggy crew-neck
sweater can be your perfect outfit for a casual day. Look for high-tech looking sneakers that will pop
and draw attention, feel free to pick vibrant, crazy sneakers and make them stick out on your
otherwise neutral outfit.
Hoodies, jackets and laid-back vibes
Huge, baggy hoodies are a lot more chic that you can imagine – especially if you pair them with ultra
slim leggings or cute shorts. This lazy, laidback moment is perfect for gym days, but if you want
something dressier, we recommend varsity-styled jackets that go well with pretty much anything. A
jeans skirt, some Converse on your feet, a varsity Reebok jacket, and a big bag to top it off and you’ll
have a cute little retro look on your hands that’s actually a great idea for a casual first date.
Sexy black leggings
Leggings are awesome. They can be totally casual or extremely sexy depending on how you work
them into the outfit, and they’re a great staple piece for any lady. Want to look great at the gym as
you tone your abs? Combine a pair of slimming black Nike leggings with a sports top, pull on some
brightly-colored leg warmers, and enjoy your workout. Need to transform this outfit quickly? Throw
on a bomber jacket over it, grab a big handbag, and you’re ready to go shopping with your
Cute baseball caps
This is absolutely the perfect accessory for those bad hair days when you just want to look
effortlessly cute. Coordinate your cap with the rest of your outfit – pick a pink jacket and a pink cap,
and stick to more neutral shades for the rest of your outfit. Athleisure works the best when kept
generally neutral, with some crazy pops of color to bring the fun. Another cool look? Wear leggings,
a slouchy top, and then tie a plaid shirt around your waist and slap on a simple Adidas cap to
complete the outfit.
Tank tops and crop tops
The best thing about these is that you can layer them to give your outfits some visual interest. Throw
on a loose-fitting crop top over a sports bra and wear low-rise tracksuit bottoms to show off your
toned abs, or layer the crop top over a slim tank top if you want something a little more demure. Ivy
Park crop tops are perfect for this purpose, but you can also use an old shirt and transform it if you
think you’ve got the sewing skills.
These pieces are easy to mix and match with each other, but also with the rest of your wardrobe.
Don’t be afraid to branch out and bring your jeans, your leather jacket, and your sweaters into the
mix – you can dress it up or dress it down, make it work for the office or keep it simple and suited to
a workout. This is a cool trend that encourages a healthy lifestyle, so experiment and have fun

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I still cannot believe today is May! Where has the time gone? The beginning of May of course means it is time for my April Favourites.
Oral Essentials Toothpaste.
I actually got a tube of Oral Essentials in my very first Vegan Cuts box. I have been on the hunt for a good SLS free toothpaste for a while now. Recently, I signed up for a 2 box subscription from Amazon. If you are looking for a good, all natural toothpaste, I highly recommend Oral Essentials.
Call The Midwife
I know I am very behind on the Call The Midwife bandwagon, but I love the show very much. It has made me both laugh and cry. The show is lovely and I consider it my “cozy” show. I’m already on season 5 and I’m just about to start the season 6, which happens to be the most current season. I’m sad that Jenny is no longer on the show but I understand that it is based off her memoirs and that’s what happened. Once I’m all caught up, I’d love to read her memoirs.
The Schmidt’s Deodorant arrived in my April Vegan Cuts box. As you know, I am in to all natural beauty products. I’ve always been a little hesitant about all natural deodorant but this stuff works so well! I work out and go to ballet while using it, and I have yet to have a problem. The deodorant also smells amazing! I got the Rose and Vanilla scent and it literally lasts all day. The rest of their scents sound pretty great as well.
Ugg Victoria Sneakers
As you know, I’ve been wearing my new Ugg sneakers all the time. I wore them to the past 2 photo shoots I did and I’m so glad I did. I was on my feet for practically a week straight. Not only are they comfy, but they are so cute, especially with the ribbon laces.
Project Beauty Hairgurt
I bought this deep conditioner at Ulta. When I first saw it, I was very interested in the concept of it, yogurt for your hair. I love how it makes my hair feel and I’ve noticed my hair has been looking healthier.
I hope you guys all enjoyed what I have been loving in April! I would love to hear what you guys have been loving! Have a fabulous day!
Happy Friday! It took me forever to edit upload this video of the Detroit City FC photo shoot. I was able to sneak in some behind the scenes for the actual shoot! All the players were super nice! I’ve actually never met a professional athlete who wasn’t nice! Anyways, here is the video!!
Behind The Scenes
You can tell I’m sick on Wednesday. My voice sounds so weird compared to all the other shots! My sinuses are still acting up!
Yesterday while I was out returning things, Rebecca got a call from Neiman Marcus and we(Not Rebecca and I personally, but Hour) have to pay for a pair of shoes that are damaged! The thing is we never even used the shoes. We used a total of 3 pairs since we had most of the guys wear their own. And the shoes we did use, we tape. The shoes literally sat on top of their box the entire day. Rebecca and I are both pissed!
Besides that issue with the shoes, the entire shoot went really well and I cannot wait to see the final pictures. The ones I saw on the laptop during the shoot looked amazing!! I will post them on here and soon as I can!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!!
February went by in a blink of an eye. Way too fast for my liking. But now it’s time to share all of my February favourites with you!
Reign finally came back after being off the air for so long and I was so glad when it came back. The show is ending and I am going to miss the wardrobe so much. The costumes are gorgeous and I love Meredith Markworth-Pollack, who is the costume designer.
Rifle Paper Co. Candle in Champs De France
I bought this candle and Amalfi De Mar back in December from Anthropolgie. I lit it for the first time last month and I can’t believe I waited so long to do so. It smells so pretty, like spring. Just lighting it makes me happy. I have yet to light the Amalfi De Mar yet, but I will soon.
Balance Me Congested Skin Serum
I haven’t gotten much acne since I was on Accutane, 4 years ago but when I do they usually start out as little tiny ones and sometimes turn into white heads. I got the Congested Skin Serum from Balance Me in my February Birchbox. Whenever I felt a tiny pimple on my chin, I would put it on and in a couple of days it would be gone!
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre
I also got this moisturizer in my February Birchbox and we all know I am a sucker for anything French, especially beauty products. The moisturizer is creamy but does not go on thick. It also creates a wonderful palette for my makeup. They sell it on Net-A-Porter so you know it’s good. You can also get it a Target! I will be buying a full size when I’m out of all my other moisturizers.
I hope you enjoyed all of my February favourites! Did you have anything that you absolutely loved last month?
Lots of love, Jennifer x
Happy Friday ladies!! I’m so looking forward to the weekend! This week has dragged on for me!
Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite blogs in fashion, food and help.
The Fox & She– I love Blair’s posts so much! She always has different topics and relates them to her outfit. Her content is amazing. I love that she replies back to comments, she’s a lot more involved than other bloggers. It shows she cares.
Pure Joy Home– I discovered her blog after she liked some of the pictures Summer/Fall Metro Detroit Weddings issue on Instagram. I followed her on Instagram for a while before I decided to check out her blog. I love her style and her kids are adorable!
Skinnytaste– I’ve been following Gina for years now. I have never been disappointed by any of her recipes and I love that they are healthy! I also own both of her cookbooks and I love them! It was her cookie recipe that I adapted for my oatmeal chocolate chip cookies recipe.
Pinch of Yum– These recipes aren’t as calorie friendly as Skinnytaste but I absolutely love them! The sweet corn and zucchini pie is wonderful. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I also love the one pot creamy spinach lentils. It’s packed with protein and keeps me so full!
Blogging 4 Keeps- Run by Blair, from The Fox & She, and Jess, from The Golden Girl, they have both taught be so much, both in blogging and Photoshop/Lightroom! I love getting emails from them every Friday on ways to help my blog grow. I honestly would be so lost without them!
If you don’t already follow these blogs, make sure to check them out!
I also have some exciting news before I go. In a couple weeks, I’m styling a commercial! It’s not assistant work, I’m the actual stylist!! I’m super excited and also extremely nervous about it. I’ve never styled anything big by myself. Yes, I’ve styled photo shoots that I’ve done with my friends but nothing this big. Hopefully it will go well!
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Saturday is going to be low key and Sunday, we are going to Grand Rapids to visit my Busia. I need to plan another trip to GR, because I really want to take some outfit pictures downtown!
Love you! Jennifer
