So my life has been pretty hectic since September. I know I had mentioned going back to school to become a teacher but I have decided against it.
Let’s go back to September. It was a Tuesday and I had just gotten out of ballet. I noticed a missed call and voicemail from a New York number I didn’t recognize. Turns out it was a lady from a marketing company looking for a wardrobe assistant for Oprah.
I called the woman back as soon as I got home and found out it was for Oprah’s The Life You Want Tour at the Palace of Auburn Hills and they needed someone to wash and iron/steam Tracy Reese’s washable collection for the models for the event.
So anyways I did the event and got $300 for it. About a week or 2 after it happened, I got a email from someone who does work for Hour Magazine saying I was referred to her by the person who hired me for Oprah’s event and asking if I would me interested in styling work for the magazine.
I of course jumped on that opportunity. It took took over a month of emails back and forth and me contacting Hour’s Creative Director before I was asked to be a stylist assistant for a photo shoot.
So far I’ve helped out with 2 photo shoots with them. Both have been great experiences. The first one was in November and it was a night shoot and outside. I didn’t get to bed until almost 4 am but it was totally worth it. The second shoot was inside and it was a bridal one.
I’m really looking forward to helping out more.
