We are currently living in a very difficult time. Not being able to leave our houses except only for essentials. Not being able to see our family and friends who don’t live in our household for who knows how long. We might feel like we are no longer in control of our lives. Today I am sharing some self-care tips to be more in control.
Create A Goal A Day
Set a simple task for yourself each day. It could be doing a load of laundry, journaling, reading a book, meditating. Our minds find solace when we accomplishing something. This is also a great time to make piece with something or someone. Forgive someone, give an apology. Also, don’t feel bad about creating boundaries. Don’t do something you don’t want to feel comfortable doing. You need to look out for yourself and health.
Clean and Reset
Turn your spring cleaning into a meditation. Pick a room or area in your home that you want to tackle first. Play some soothing music, light a candle, etc. Aromatherapy has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety and can immediately change your mood. While doing this, evaluate each piece and practice the art of letting go. This active meditation helps give you the sense of determination and security.
Take Care Of Your Body
What we eat not only impacts our body’s functions and immune system but also impacts the way we feel and how we manage stress. I’m sure we’ve all been there after eating junk food, we feel like crap. We must nurture our bodies with whole foods. If you want something sweet, try my almond butter blondies or shamrock shake.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed about something, relax. Take a nice long, hot bath with some epsom salts or a bath bomb. If you need a nap, take a nap.
The essence of self-care is mindful awareness. Learning to be intentionally present even with our everyday tasks. Revel in the small moments of peace we have.
Breathing is something we don’t even need to think about doing. But doing breathing practices helps keep us centre and can help with anxiety and other issues. It helps us slow down. Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4 and hold for 4 again. Repeat as necessary.
Chat With Family
While we are all stuck at home, our friends and family are too. Be sure to check on them. Schedule a call or Facetime with them. It can make you definitely make you feel lighter.
Create A Routine
Having a routine can give you a sense of calm. Waking up at the same time, doing your skincare routine, drinking your coffee and having breakfast before starting the rest of your day. I like writing down everything I need to accomplish for that day.
Finding something to do during this difficult time can help reduce anxiety and boost immunity. Finding online workout classes or classes to learn a new skill. Skillshare has 1000’s of classes on basically every subject.
During this time, we need to find balance in our lives with the food we eat, moving our bodies, our mental health and our relationships.
