February is here and it is also my birthday month! Did January fly by for anyone else? I was sick for the first week with the head/chest cold that was going around and that was no fun. It was a miserable time. As for my January favourites, most of these actually should’ve been in my December Favourites. And they are just so random that there was no way for me to take a cute product shot.
As many of you know, I hate plastic and have been trying to use less of it. It’s actually quite hard since practically everything uses plastic. After a quick Google search, I discovered Plaine Products. They offer shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion in aluminum bottles that you then return when you’re done for them to reuse. They run at $30 each unless you get a subscription and save 10%. I got my subscription for 20% off during Black Friday but it’s only off the first order. And I only wash my hair once a week so it’s not that bad. The scent I ordered is the Rosemary Vanilla Mint and it’s made with all natural and clean ingredients. Some people say that it left their hairy stringy but most reviews are good. I have not had any issues with it and I have thick, wavy hair. Package Free Shop also carries them and offer free shipping over $25. They don’t carry the travel sizes so you’ll have to use the actual Plaine Products site for that.
This really should’ve been in my December favourites. I ordered my Almond Cow back in October and didn’t get it until the weekend before American Thanksgiving. This machine is amazing and only takes me 5 minutes to make my coconut almond milk. This is another way, I’m trying to use less waste with this machine. And you don’t just have to make almond milk with it, the options are endless. I’ve made a chocolate hazelnut milk which I loved in my coffee. Pecan, chocolate pecan, macadamia nut, and oat milk. I never plan on buying store bought non dairy milk again. It took me a bit of trial and error but I’ve mastered making milks. I like to run the cycles 2-3 times for creamy milk. Once is not enough in my opinion. And after reading other people’s comments in the Facebook Group, I also use hot water to make it. If you click this link, you can get $10 off and then they offer Affirm so I’m only pay $62 a month for 3 months! One of my best investments! Oh and you can use the leftover pulp for recipes so there is literally zero waste!
Another one of my best investments. I make my own almond butter and it can take awhile. I was using an old Mini Presto which worked a lot better than my Ninja when it came to nut butters. Sadly, the blade was getting dull and wasn’t working as well and it was taking me so long just to make a tiny batch. I did a bunch of research and this one came up as the best one for making nut butters. What used to take me 2 days to make, now takes me 20 minutes!
