I’m so excited to share with you January’s with Grand Rapids Magazine. Some might remember me styling the cover back for May 2019’s issue. For those of you wondering, it’s not really a new job. Hour Media, who also owns Metro Detroit Weddings, recently purchased Grand Rapids Magazine last year. As of right now, I’m officially the lead stylist for the magazine.
Both of these shots were done back in October when I was in Grand Rapids for 4 days for a variety of shoots. Grand Rapids is about a 2 hour drive from where I live in Metro Detroit. Our goal for the magazine is to add more fashion and feature local stores. Before it mostly did profile pieces and didn’t focus on local stores and restaurants.
For January’s style trend, we focused on heritage which is basically the quality of fabrics and classic silhouettes in prints like check, tartan and tweed.
For the gear page, which we try to make more unisex, we did gym bag essentials. Styling this bag was actually difficult because we could not get the bag or the items to stay put! Eventually we got everything to stay.
I cannot wait to share with you February’s issue because that has the bridal shoot! My very first bridal shoot I styled all by myself. I still haven’t even seen the final pictures yet but the ones I took on my phone came out so well!
