Being a Blogger and Dealing with Real Life
Being a blogger it seems that I always need to be shooting content. Whether it’s for a blog post or just Instagram. And let me tell you, it’s hard. Especially if you are busy with other parts of your life like work, family, etc. Then there’s the unforeseeable things that you cannot prevent and you have to figure out another plan of action.
Back in January, I was suppose to shoot with my photographer one last time before she went on maternity leave. The day we had picked ended up being gorgeous, sunny and warm (warm for Michigan winters). But that morning she had texted me saying her feet were swollen and she was cramping and had to cancel. And I completely understood. This was something I couldn’t prevent from happening.
I knew I needed content, so what did I do? I had my sister shoot this outfit for me and figured I could shoot the rest of them when I was in Toronto the following week. As much as I would’ve prefer a professional photographer, my sister had to do. She may have complained the entire time (not joking, but she agreed to do it) and didn’t tell me my hat wasn’t on right?but at least I got content.
There have been other times where I’m messaging other girls in my area and other photographers just so I can get content. One time I was accepted into a campaign on a Friday evening and my draft was due the next Friday before noon. Not a lot of time to go buy the product, shoot, edit and write copy. Luckily, my friend was able to help me.
I think it’s so important as an influencer to have a community or tribe to help us when things don’t seem to go are way. And I’m sure many of you agree as well!
My French blue silk tank is from Everlane. It’s silk charmeuse and is so soft. Sadly, it is no longer available even though I just got it, but Everlane has so many other silk cami options to choose from! I cannot wait to style it for warmer weather. My jeans are also from Everlane. If you have not tried their denim yet, you really need to! It has become my absolute favourite. The quality and price points are amazing! My jacket is actually from my aunt. She never wore it and gave it to me!
Have any of you ever had to deal with conflicts when it comes to shooting? How do you deal with it?
