Review: Boots Botanics Softening Cleanser

I was actually really excited to try this Boots Botanics Softening Cleanser with Rosehip. I love the Boots Botanics All Bright Micellar Water. It’s one of my favourite skincare products and I generally love the Boots Botanics brand.

I’ve got to say, that I am slightly aghast in it. First of all, I do not like the smell. I think it smells like a household cleaner. Maybe it’s the rosehip, but I’ve used other products with rosehip so I don’t think it’s that, but I don’t really no.

Besides, the way it smells, I think it cleans my face okay. The consistency is fine and is creamy. Sometimes I think it leaves my face slightly greasy, other times, I think it feels moisturized. Maybe it depends on how much of the cleanser I’m using? I will say my face is softer after I use it!

After the Mario Badescu face wash, I was really hoping to find a face wash that I truly love. And I honestly thought I did. Overall, the face is fine but I will not be repurchasing.

Anyways, I am now in the market for a new face wash, any recommendations? Boots does carry other face washes that I am willing to try as well!

  • It’s a shame this isn’t a winner for you as rosehip is supposed to be really good for your skin – hopefully you have better luck with their other cleansers! 🙂

Hope you are having a lovely week so far 🙂

    • Thanks Mica! I love rosehip in other products, just not this one.

  • When I saw the photo of this post I was so excited (not only due to the fact they have re-launched their range but I need a new face cleanser lol). But not impressed! I would have thought them re-launching would have kicked them to make their products even better 🙁 Great, honest review lovely xx

    • Their old products are better!

Too bad it didn’t work out too well. I’ve heard of their products before, and the first launch was better for sure.

That thing about the smell is so important, I need products that smell good haha!

I don’t mind strong scents but if a product smells bad, I cannot use it. How difficult is for brands to produce products with lovely scents?? Happy Friday 🙂

    • I know right? I just want a nice smelling face wash.

  • Love the honest review! Hope you’re able to find a good face wash soon!

  • A bad smelling product is a deal breaker for me! Recently I’ve been pretty into the Wei Even Brighter Silky Cleansing Milk, but it’s a little pricy (I got it to review as well).

Hope you find something you like!

    • I’ll have to check it out. Thanks!

  • Thanks for your honest review. It can be disappointing when you go in to use a product and then it doesn’t turn out the way you wanted it to be.

  • Thanks.

  • I’ve loved rosehip in other face washes. Just not this one. I’ll have to check it out!
